PMG Settings updates
Not set in stone quite yet

You probably saw our recent announcement about PMG’s latest release, v21.4 of the PMG Platform. Many of you are likely already making plans to upgrade, which is great!

In case you missed it, one item to be aware of is the update made to certain System Settings. Some of you may be impacted when you upgrade to the new version, while others may not notice a change at all. Either way, we’ve got you covered.

Some of the System Settings have been forced to a value in v21.4. They can be changed back if issues occur, but we plan to remove these options on a future release in 2022. So, it would be better to migrate to the new default values sooner rather than later.

The most impactful setting change is likely one related to Forms. USE_BS3_PRODUCT_PAGE alters the general look and feel of forms, and any custom styles that have been implemented may not work the same with Bootstrap 3 over Bootstrap 2.

That’s not the only change, though.

Other Settings Updates

  • AD_LOOKUP_USE_DISPLAY_NAMES = True. If set to true, newly added AD Lookups will use field labels that match the display names of the portal’s configured AD attributes.
  • ASYNC_DYNAMIC_DATA_LOAD = True. Enable async loading for dynamic client-side data loads.
  • ENABLE_NEW_RTE = True. For services, use a newer version of Tiny MCE. This supports new features such as copy/paste of images.
  • FORM_VALIDATION_MODE = MODE2. “MODE1” is the legacy mode stopping validation at the first error. “MODE2” will show all the validation errors at one time.
  • JSON_MODE_FOR_CLIENT_LOAD = True. Use JSON mode for client-side data loading.
  • USE_BS3_PRODUCT_PAGE = True. Use Bootstrap 3 on the product view page.
  • USE_OFFICE_COOKIE_FIX = False. This assists with links pointing to PMG to load correctly in Microsoft Office products.
